The Pearl Public Library was selected as the Pearl Chamber of Commerce August Business of the Month. The first library in Pearl opened its doors in 1966 in Bright’s Shopping Center and then later moved to the Hwy 80 location where the first headquarters of the Central Mississippi Regional Library System was established. The current library on Old Brandon Road near City Hall was built in 2005 and is a 25,000 square foot $3.8 million dollar state of the art facility. With a collection of more than 50,000 titles including books and an impressive large print collection, DVDs, books in MP3 and CD format, e-books and video games, there is something for everyone. The Pearl Public Library houses the only computer lab in the Central Mississippi Regional Library System. Wireless internet is available throughout the library and a meeting room that can accommodate 150 people is available for reservation. They also offer a conference room that can seat 12 people and 3 private study rooms. The Branch Manager at the Pearl Library is Maggie Bookman and the Executive Director of the CMRLS is Mara Villa Polk.
