A Ground Breaking Ceremony was held on Friday July 10th at the intersection of Pearson Road and Hwy 80 in Pearl where the new West Rankin Parkway will begin. The 4 mile road will go east toward Bierdeman Road and then loop back west and come out at Tree Tops Boulevard on Flowood Drive. The much needed North-South connector road will not only make traveling easier, but it will also ease congestion off of Hwy 80 and Lakeland Drive. It is also crucial for moving traffic from I-20 when there has been an accident and traffic is being routed through Pearl. The new road will also open up the area for future commercial and residential development.
