We are proud to announce that the Pearl Police Department Officer of the Month in July is Investigator Greg Jones. Greg was born and raised in Columbus, MS where he graduated from New Hope High School in 2005. In 2006, Greg attended Itawamba Community College and in the same year enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. From 2006 – 2010, Greg was assigned to Travis Air Force Base as a Security Forces Member. While assigned to Travis Air Force Base, Greg received several awards to include his promotion to Senior Airmen six months early. Greg then served two tours in Iraq, once in 2007 in Tikrit, Iraq conducting duties on base such as routine police duties and base security. Secondly in 2009 in and around Bagdad, Iraq where he was assigned to an Iraqi Police Transition Team responsible with the training of Iraqi Police Forces while working hand-in-hand conducting patrols and other daily duties.
After his service in the Air Force, Greg was hired in 2010 by Madison PD. He received his Police Certificate in 2011 from the Southern Regional Public Safety Institute. In an attempt to move closer to home Greg became a Deputy Sheriff in 2012 at the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office, in Starkville, MS.
