The Pearl Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the new Pearl Upper Elementary at 400 Treasure Cove on Thursday, September 21st. The school sits on 24 acres just off Highway 80 near the Central Fire Station. After the ceremony guests were given tours of the 86,000 square foot facility and enjoyed refreshments in the cafeteria. The cafeteria has a stage on one side and hideaway walls that separate the cafeteria and the gym on the other side so that it can be o...pened up into a huge auditorium for events. The 4th grade is on one side of the building and 5th grade is on the other side. Every classroom has brand new furniture and active panel promethean boards. The library features all new and updated reading resources and they have two state of the art computer labs and science labs. The new school has the latest up to date features from top to bottom; even the water fountains have filtered water and are equipped to fill tall drinking containers with water. Attention to detail was made in every aspect of the planning for the school. The Pirate head at the entrance of the school is made of solid concrete and is the focal point of the beautiful foyer area. The first person to get their picture made in front of the Pirate was none other than Represntative Ray Rogers. The Principal of the Pearl Upper Elementary is Gavin Gill and the Assistant Principals are Kim Scutch and Sheila McKay. It's a Great Day to be a Pirate!
